Introducing Sony’s replacement to the E-series, The Xperia L1. Featuring a large 5.5” cinematic screen, gorgeous design, great camera and fast network data – The ‘L’ certainly doesn’t stand for lackluster. Superb for anybody that’s looking for a solid smartphone with some flagship features at an affordable price.

Following the design principles found in all the Xperia handsets. The Sony Xperia L1 looks more expensive than it actually is. Built with a solid poly-carbonate shell, the Xperia L1 feels very durable despite not being as metallic as premium phones. The smooth, rounded frame allows for a secure grip that feels great in your hand, which is crucial for a device of this size.

Fitted with a 5.5-inch IPS display with scratch resistant glass and 720p resolution. The large screen offers a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch which provides your eyes with plenty of detail and clarity. The display is bright and clear, offering warmer tones at night to prevent eye strain and a bright screen for viewing under direct sunlight at all angles. The device has remarkable colour reproduction, displaying accurate vivid colours without being over saturated and inky dark blacks. Perfect for watching Netflix and browsing images online.

The Sony Xperia L1 may only have one speaker but the in-built ‘xLoud’ option enables for crystal clear hearing and a boost in volume. Included is the pre-installed Sony FM radio receiver, one of the best radio receivers on any smartphone. The application allows you to fully customize your listening experience by setting colours to stations you enjoy. Working together with the integrated TrackID software, you’re able to identify songs playing, view the top charts by country, access live updates and even save your search history.

Equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with designated Exmore sensor. Like many Sony smartphones – The Sony Xperia L1 captures exceptional images with it’s easy-to-use camera interface. Images have an abundance of detail, colours are true-to-life and contrast ratios can’t be beaten. With the option to enable HDR mode, photos look even more natural thanks to the extra detail added to shadows and highlights. Truly an essential feature for when you want to capture your surroundings, family and friends for social-media sharing. Featuring a front facing 5-megapixel camera, the Xperia L1 is certainly capable of taking high-quality selfies even in low light conditions. There’s also the option to record videos at 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. Videos have excellent colours, great contrast and they’re free from any noise or blurring.

The Sony Xperia L1 is powered by the formidable MediaTek MT6737T chipset. Featuring a quad-core Cortex CPU, Mali-T720MP Graphics Processor and 2GB RAM. Overall performance is lightning-fast without any noticeable lag or overheating. Capable of loading demanding applications quickly, running multiple windows at once and playing graphic intensive games with no problems.

By including their smart technology in recent products, Sony continues to make lives easier with the intelligent smartphone assistant. By learning and analyzing your daily routine, the in-built software adapts to the environment you’re in and makes daily tasks easier. For example, if you start every morning by turning on Bluetooth and spotify – the Xperia L1 will give you the option to turn them both on simultaneously every day. This is especially handy if you follow the same routine morning and night. Furthermore, by learning your sleeping pattern and when you charge your phone – the in-built assistant staggers charging time and trickle feeds the battery. This process alone can extend battery life significantly and takes care of the device.
